The Backdrop for Community Events
Albert Lea’s lakes are the backdrop for some of the community’s most beloved events throughout the year. Celebrate summer with the spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks over Fountain Lake, lighting up the night sky at 10 p.m. This annual celebration is proudly hosted by the Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce.
From May through August, enjoy the Thursdays on Fountain Outdoor Concert Series at Fountain Lake Park Gazebo. Presented by the Albert Lea Convention & Visitors Bureau and Albert Lea Recreation, these free concerts bring live music and community together every Thursday evening.


Seasonal Events on the Lake
Cycling enthusiasts look forward to Rock-N-Roll the Lakes, a fun bike event circling Fountain Lake every second Saturday in August, also hosted by the Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Winter doesn’t slow the fun with The Big Freeze Winter Festival, held the second Saturday in February at Fountain Lake and Edgewater Pavilion. This all-day event offers outdoor activities and community spirit in the heart of winter.

Thursdays on Fountain
Make your summer Thursdays unforgettable at Thursdays on Fountain, held at the beautiful Fountain Lake Park in Albert Lea, MN. As the sun sets, the lakeside park transforms into an open-air stage featuring talented local performers, creating a magical atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
From late May through August, join the community every Thursday from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM for vibrant live music, delicious food, and refreshing drinks. It’s the perfect way to relax, connect, and enjoy the beauty of summer by the lake.

Year-Round Lake Adventures
For ice fishing fans, the Albert Lea Anglers Ice Fishing Contest takes place on Albert Lea Lake Channel, drawing anglers from near and far.
Outdoor lovers can rent kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and bikes at The Boathouse, located near Brookside Boatlanding. Open August through September on Saturday mornings, the rentals require preregistration and offer affordable access to the lake’s beauty. Admission is $5, with free access for Albert Lea Area School students in grades K-12.
